0615 - LOFT 1

Loft

Year of construction : 2006

Location : Belgium

Floor area : 400m2

The ancient Regent cardboard factory is gone; it leaves its empty spaces which dominate the interior of the urban island. Five lofts are created. Architect Bruno ERPICUM who has already realized the renovation of the shelter of the building has been entrusted with the design of “Loft 1”. The living room is planned on the first floor: A “tube to live in” is organized under the constructive cross created by concrete beams which allow a free space without further bearing elements. The constructive elements are whitewashed, and the furniture designed by the architect enriches the pure concrete floor. The two lower levels contain the necessary functions for contemporary life and the rooms are organized around a patio. The partition walls are carefully detached from the structural elements in order to implicate a “white sheet” announcing the following parts. Photographer: Jean-Luc Laloux.
