There will probably be many operations of this type in the areas surrounding our towns in the future. Land which is not built on will become rare and property as a whole will need to be significantly renovated. The “Dandoy” house was built in the 1960s at the request of a doctor. The house reveals a complicated layout, has little light, contains obsolete fittings and was built using techniques which are no longer used and the insulation is not perfect either. The new occupant requested that the architect approached the building with a completely fresh perspective with a view to creating a modern and comfortable home. The roof has been removed, the surfaces cleaned, the large bay windows have been extended and the walls have been packed with insulating material and cemented... And so here’s our house, ready for the decades to come, which opens up in every aspect on to the garden. Photographer: Jean-Luc Laloux
